Greetings!
What a sleepy little girl we have today! As you can imagine, there has been quite a bit of traffic in our little room during the past 24 hours. Pain management has been in at least 3 times, which is a good thing because there is a lot of pain to manage. I think the meds are finally where they need to be. Then there are the usual vitals checks every 2 to 4 hours, the resident rounds, the nurse practitioner rounds, and even the massage therapist rounds. She is well taken care of!
At about 12:30 this afternoon we went to have her pic line put in. This went off without incicent - probably due to the Valium they gave her before she went to the procedure room. We are now waiting for them to hook up the TPN (IV nutrition), and take the IVs out of her hand (everything can go in the pic line). She will have the epidural for another couple of days, but after that is taken out, she will only have one tether.
So in a nutshell, Lucy is in pain, but it is manageable. She really just does not want to be touched or even really talked to - concentrating on healing, I suppose. We were told that she should perk up a bit when she gets the TPN due to the sugars (she hasn't eaten anything solid since Friday night).
We will keep you posted. Thank you for all of your prayers.
Love,
The C's

Praying for Lucy, Melissa. She is a real trooper, as are you and Ed.
We are hanging on your every update. . .so glad that Lucy is in good hands. She certainly deserves a massage therapist! Griffin and I looked for teacher listings today (in case they posted early). The word is Friday. I'll get the whole scoop for Lou!
Love,
Kelly
