This is a picture tht Louis worked diligently on for days. It is for Lucy. Our family is on the top right corner, all in red (for China). On the boat, with a little heart next to her head, is Lucy - she is coming to be with us (the family in red). I think our family is on the boat too.
On Monday, we had the much anticipated face-to-face meeting with the PGE. Ed and I left there and felt like it was the first time in weeks that we could actually breathe. Now we can proceed with things, armed with the knowledge that we CAN do this, and when we need help, we know just the right places to get it.
Our SW gave our contact info to a lovely couple that returned from getting their little girl in January. The Mom (MM) gave us a call yesterday, and was full of extreemely useful information! While we wait for our travel invitation, there is not a lot to do - well, except pack (no small feat, I assure you!). Though there are lists and lists of suggestions of what to bring, speaking to someone who has just been through the same process can really help weed out the non-essentials. MM also volunteered some absolutely invaluable information on how to get packages to the orphanages/foster parents prior to arrival, and also some Yahoo groups to join for information about specific provinces and orphanages. Incidentally, all communication to the foster parents apparently must go through the orphanage. Not ever having to join a Yahoo group, I did not realize that I had to be approved by the site administrator before I could join a group. I am waiting on "approval" at this time.
In the meantime, I have put together a kids photo album for Lucia, and am working on one for the foster family, so they might know about the place where Lucy is going. Also, I have been collecting items to go in the care package that I am going to send with the albums.
Off I go to search the attic for sippie cups and toys appropriate for 18 - 24 month olds - that is, if I can remember what that would be. Wish me luck!
Say a little prayer for Lucy!
