I do not know who said, "Friends are the Family You Choose", but it could not be more true.
For most of the summer, while the boys are at swim practice, I try to accomplish some errands at Walmart or Target - both right down the road from practice. And for the majority of the trips to these fine establishments, I find myself, at some point, standing in the baby bottle aisle, staring hopelessly at the vast array of bottles. If you have shopped for bottles lately, you know what I mean. I am rendered utterly useless and unable to make a decision.
At 19 months old, odds are that Lucy will not be taking a bottle - but then who knows what the odds are in China. It has been suggested to us on more than one occastion, that we bring one just in case - if she is on one, then great; if she is not, reverting to the bottle is good for attachment; sucking on a bottle also helps relieve ear pressure on the plane; etc. etc.
My inability to make a decision has turned this seemingly minor issue (I do have 2 kids, both bottle fed at some point in their infancy, for crying out loud) into an albatross, that is apparently obvious to everyone around me.
So this afternoon, as I sat amongst the thousands of travel-sized items in Lucy's room, being completely unproductive, Laura and her posse arrive with...yes, BOTTLES (and other fabulous travelin' baby necessities). I don't know if she felt sorry for me, or was just sick of me babbling on and on about this issue, but let me tell you brothers and sisters, WHAT A RELIEF. As Laura said, "Move on".
We are so blessed.
Say a little prayer for "Shi Shi"!
