Post Placement Visit

Greetings!

I have relayed the following episode in the life of Lucy in e-mails and on our group adoption blog, and feel it only fitting to include it here.

We had our first post-placement visit - on MONDAY, July 28. Home just 5 days. I have no clue what our lovely (she truly is lovely) social worker could have possibly determined at that point, as my boys had clearly decided to gang up on me. Nolan whipped out his guitar and played Bon Jovi (Deadliest Catch theme song) over and over again at a near-ear-splitting decible; Lou asked our social worker every 5 minutes when she was leaving; both boys conducted a thorough raid on the pantry and the fridge, parading through the den with cereal, Goldfish, fruit, and leftover pizza, that concluded with the consumption of all of Lucy's Cheerios out of that handy little travel container; and Nolan answered the majority of the social workers questions in a rap, or something unintelligible that closely resembled a rap while Louis sat virtually upside down in the big green chair. Apparently paybacks for a 2 week trip to China, and a new little sister are rough.

But on to bigger and better things! Lucy will now go to my Mom! She holds out her arms and dives onto Grandma. Grandma is just thrilled to death. We spent the majority of last weekend at Ed's parents' house, visiting with aunts and uncles and cousins. Lucy was as social as can be - with the guys, of course. As for the ladies, we are still at the pointing and shaking the head stage. Her aunt C took it the hardest, and is bound and determined to come up with an "in" with Lucy.

We had our annual swim team awards banquet last night, and the boys did great. Lou got "most improved swimmer" for his age group, and Nolan got "high point" winner for his age group. He also did great in the Memphis City Swim Meet, placing 4th in the city in his age group in the 100 IM.

Not much else new to report. We are getting the boys ready for school, and winding down our summer. Lou gets his cast off tomorrow and we will ALL be celebrating that!

Say a little prayer for Lucy!

I think it's mutual.

Hey Aunt Melissa & Uncle Ed:
Look at all those little people together. Nolan and Louis must really love their new little sister. I liked all the pictures you posted. Mom showed me the blog for the first time. It was fun this weekend seeing all of you guys. From Alex (not Amp; like Mom typed in the last comment)
