New Year's Resolution!
Greetings!
One of my many New Years Resolutions is to update this blog more often. I probably should change the name to something catchy about my 3 kids like "2 jedis and a princess" (OK, lame, but you get the idea), since but I really can't see myself doing that at the moment. So Little Girl C is what it remains. :-)
Lucy is doing great. Within the past week, we had a little scare which found us at Diagnostic Imaging getting an x-ray. She was bloated, had painful gas and was reluctant to poop - and the poop just wasn't what it should be (even for Lucy). The images showed that she had excessive gas - looked like someone was having a hayday with a bubble wand in there. A little gas-x, and some gas-passing encouragement from the boys, and I think we are over the hump. Our main worry was enterocolitis, and you cannot imagine our relief when that was not the diagnosis. We'll take some gas anyday!
Sometimes I feel so absolutely ridiculous and like such an alarmist when I call the GI, all panicky, about some of these symptoms that would be so normal in a non-HD kid. Fortunately, our GI's office is always so reassuring, and is quick to remind us that kids with Hirschsprung's Disease are always a different ballgame - even after surgery.
We had a great Christmas this year despite a stomach bug, and ear infection, and a cold. Lucy was really able to take it all in (last year she was so sick that I really do not know what she even remembers). We took our annual trip to SanDestin with Melissa's parents, and were able to visit with Aunt Mary and Uncle David, as well as spend some time with Mike. Lucy LOVED listening to him play the piano, showcased a few dance moves at Rumrunners, and even sat with Uncle Mike at the piano.
This week found Melissa's Aunt Joan and Uncle Gerry visiting from Minnesota for a few days. We haven't seen them in years, and Lucy has never met them. Was a terrific visit.
So now we are back into the routine of things. The boys have basketball games and practices, Nolan has guitar and both boys have scouts. Lucy will start KinderMusik on Monday again, and ballet class will start in February.
Anyone who is currently my friend on facebook, please do not be offended if I do not respond to posts, etc. My account is on the blink and I cannot get anything to work.
Stay tuned......
