Greetings!
OK. I know that is not a very PC thing to talk negatively about gifts ones receives, but I'm not very PC.
This morning I was trying to make some sense out of the disaster area in Lucy's room, and was putting a few things away for later. As I pitched the "Going Home Barbie" that was given to us by Mattel and the White Swan Hotel in Guangzhou (not for children under 3 years of age, you know), into the box, Lucy made a grab for it, suddenly interested. After 20 minutes of fiddling around with the packaging, I had freed our plastic, leggy, imossibly proportioned, blonde friend and her "Chinese" adopted baby wrapped in burlap. This is when I burst into hysterics at the obvious similarities that Barbie and I have on our individual trips to China to adopt our babies (said tongue-in-cheek).
We both wore the highest pumps possible. Comfort is not the issue, style and being a 6 foot 8 inch tall woman in China is a great way to blend in. We dressed as fancy and as scantily as possible because fancy things deflect sweat, dirt, and baby drool, and when you are 6 feet 8 inches tall in your hot pink pumps, a short skirt is the way to go. We were sure to wrap our adopted Chinese children in burlap - it sets off one's fanciness. But in order not to clash, we wore our burlap shortie jackets to match. I could go on and on, but Ed has informed me that this post is "really great", which translates into "This is ridiculous. Get off the computer."
OK. Despite my rather mean-spirited tirade on Barbie, Lucy still likes her doll, as you can tell by the pics. Plus, I think the "Going Home" Barbie is going for aroud $300 - $400 on EBAY.

Try selling it on Ebay - look at these prices. Barbie is a slacker anyway.
