Still on Hold

Greetings All!

I have not updated much lately here, and that is because there is not much to update. We are still waiting for our Letter of Acceptance and our Travel Approval. In the meantime, however, we have been kept frantically busy with a spur-of-the-moment flurry of updates.

This all came about because we made the switch from "healthy child" to "special needs" child. I had alluded to this in a previous post, hoping that we would not have to re-do what has already been done twice. Those hopes were dashed about a week or so ago. There is apparently a brand new form from DHS (I think), that must be filled out when certain changes are made to the homestudy approval. We did not think that this would apply to us, and the language on the form is vague in our situation, however, through much questioning on many levels, we learned that we did not have that much of a choice. So, we gathered new background checks for Ed and I, and new medical forms for the entire family - all of which came with a fee. THEN, our lovely SW had to come out to our house AGAIN, for another homestudy update - we loved the visit, though. And, of course, we had to write ANOTHER check to DHS. On April 18, we completed this (for the most part).

April 15 saw another change in the process. We are now unable to apply for our travel visa to China until we have all of our travel plans in stone. As I understand it, in the past, families could apply for their travel visas as soon as they got their letter of acceptance. Since travel plans cannot be made until you have your "Travel Approval", this could potentially put a bit of a crunch on things timewise, but we'll hope for the best.
