Look at my impressive updates to this blog - HA! I am clearly out of control with the pictures, and tickers. One can only imagine what sort of craziness will occur in the future. Please note that I am acutely aware that I am in dire need of a haircut in the recently added photo of Ed and myself. That unattractive issue has since been resolved, and I will replace it with a more flattering image at a later date. Why those particular pics of the boys? Well, they crack me up. And what is with the zany ladybug-baby image on the "Travel Approval" icon, you ask? It is truly a mystery to me why that image exists - but obviously I couldn't help myself.
Throughout this process of adopting Lucia, there has been a tremendous exchange and consumption of information. One of the most maddening things that I have run into while finding out as much as I can about the process, and what others have gone through on their adoption journeys, is the use of rather cryptic-looking abbreviations that everyone seems to know about except moi. SO, in my effort to drag everyone I know into my current universe, I am going to provide the key to many of those abbreviations.
- DTC - Dossier to China - when the massive document that we prepared way back in 2005 was sent to China.
- LID - Log in date - the date when China received our dossier and logged it in.
- LOI - Letter of Intent - the letter that we sent to China, stating that we intend to adopt Lucia and why; how we plan to care for her; how excited we are to adopt her; and why we want to adopt a child from China.
- LOA - Letter of Acceptance - A little on the foggy side on this one.
- PA - Pre-approval - After we send in our LOI, we MIGHT get one of these. It's the go-ahead to send the paperwork. Some adopters do not get this, as I understand it. Still a little fuzzy on this one.
- TA - Travel Approval - Notification from China that we can come get Lucy! According to legend, travel can occur 1 to 6 weeks after you get this. Please, oh please let this come soon!
- DOT - Date of Travel - Pretty self-explanatory there.
- SN - Special Needs
- SW - Social Worker
Say a little prayer for Lucia!
And while you are at it, and if you are so inclined, say a little prayer for her birthmom too. What a heartwrenching and selfless choice she made.

So excited to watch you blog and see the story continue to unfold though I won't be in M to meet/see her we she finally see Dr.E. Yes, this is "Nurse Angela" whom you talked to on the phone. My husband and I have since moved, and I won't get to meet little L. :( I found out that we have a mutual friend in Amy M though. I have a special love for her little G. Continue the updates!!! And if you feel like it you can check out my blog....though it is not near as interesting as yours.
