Greetings!
We are back from Cinci and all is well.
We got great news from Dr. Levitt. Lucy's incision site is just fine - no need for "stretching things out" (whew!). Her scars are healing beautifully, and her x-ray showed that all systems are working (or at least at the time they were).
The plan now is to put Lucy on a constipating diet (hello B.R.A.T.S.), and add pectin to her diet, all in an effort to firm things up a bit. We will also be taking measures to help get this diaper rash under control - daily enemas. I know how excited Lucy will be about this, as I share that level of excitement about having to watch her go through that. Ugh. Poor kid.
It was great to see Dr. Levitt and his crew. Lucy really bonded with everyone while she was there, and was handing out hugs left and right. We even went up to the colorectal floor and visited with some of her nurses. Hugs were doled out there as well!
After leaving the hospital, we ate at Dixie Chili (been there for 80 years), went to the Aquarium, then had some Graters ice cream before we got in the car and headed to Jellystone Park in Mammoth Cave State Park. We rented a Savannah cabin in hopes of a relaxing evening in the woods with a campfire. Unfortunately, the wood from the ranger station was not campfire quality, and Ed, master campfire builder, spent an hour or more trying to get a fire lit but to no avail. It was fun anyway. In the morning Ed and the kids played putt putt on the ancient Yogi Bear course on the Jellystone property. Lucy loved this, Nolan played all the way through, and Louis threw his club.
We loaded up the car and then made our way through the park, made a quick stop at the visitor's center to get information for future camping adventures, and set out to find the Wigwam Village in Cave City, KY. Fortunately the nice lady with orange hair at the Dollar General was able to tell me where the Wigwam Village was, because when I called the owners of the Wigwam Village, they could not tell me what street they were located on. I am happy with our decision to rent the cabin as opposed to the wigwam. Wigwam apparently = nightmare.
Off we were then to visit Bowling Green, KY where we had lunch at "The most distinctive delicatessen in Kentucky", and walked around the little town square. Then off to Franklin Kentucky's town square where we caught the tail end of a rather fancy classic car show. We were so excited to go see some "live racing" after the show, but as we followed the locals directions to the track, we realized that they were not talking about live racing CARS. More like live racing HORSES. I guess we momentarily forgot what state we were in. Ha!
We finally made it home at about 10:00 Saturday night. We are still exhausted, but the show must go on! I am off to the store to purchase lactose free things, and pectin! Whoo hoo!
