Greetings!
I had to include a picture of the cake our Niece made for Lucy's "Welcome Home" party. It was just beautiful, as you can see. However, when we asked if she was ready to go into business for herself, her response was less than enthusiastic.
I know this blog is supposed to be about Lucy, but I feel I should include the following story about our dog Sula - who has, as of late, provided much material for blogville. AND, since Lucy and Sula are now inseparable, it's only fitting we include her best furry friend.
2 weeks ago, on the day of Lucy's party, we awoke to find Sula's right eye slammed shut, and obviously causing her pain. Despite the fact that we had loads to do prior to the "big event", I implored Ed to take her to the emergency Vet to get it checked out. After 2 hours of waiting, and a rather inflated bill, Ed strolled into the, now in full swing party and announced that Sula had Pink Eye. Well, feeling more than a little silly about insisting on the emergency visit, we were a bit alarmed when, at dinner last night, Louis mentioned that we might want to give Sula some of that pink eye medicine again. Upon inspection, we found that Sula's right eye was swollen shut, and there were swollen bumps on her snout that were getting bigger as we watched. After running around in circles (our patent initial response to a crisis), and furiously searching online for benadryl dosing for dogs (1mg per pound), we medicated her and put a bag of frozen brussel sprouts on her swollen eye and snout. This seemed to work. 30 minutes later, the other side of her face started swelling. More frozen brussel sprouts, and a bath seemed to get that side under control. This morning, Sula woke up with a swollen head (she looked like an awkward pit bull), so it was off to the vet, who informed us that she was indeed having an allergic reaction to something (probably a bug bite). Sula is sleeping now, having been tucked snugly into her dog bed by Nurse Lucy. Lucy, completely worn out by the vet visit (White Coat Syndrome does not distinguish between people doctors and animal doctors when you are just under 2-years-old), is also snugly tucked into her bed.
Say a little prayer for Lucy... and Sula!

I am so excited by the joy I read in your blog. I know how trying the wait was to bring Lucy home. The photo of Lucy, bow in hair, is very sweet...that smile is just one of those pictures that tell more than words ever could.
Mya and I still thank God for your sweet blessing!
